It's Christmas Letter Time!!!!

It's that time of year again, when included in our Christmas card, come the letters and pictures of picture perfect families. Heralding the great achievements their perfect children have accomplished. All in an one year time frame. My son is not quite the "Christmas Letter" material. Yet, we love him just the same. Why just yesterday, one day after learning about the after school detention he must serve on Thursday, he tells me he has to serve an "in-house" suspension. This is what happened. Even though they have a no bullying policy, no violence policy, surprise, surprise, it still happens. My son has been taunted by names, pushed, shoved, slapped, and even kicked in the balls. Well, he finally snapped. This big kid, who has repeated at least one grade so far, was calling my son's friend names. When he told him to shut up, he was called an asshole and received a hardy punch between the shoulder blades. Ahh, lunch time fun. My son didn't retaliate in front of teachers. He waited outside in the hall for this fellow, who is a known big bully. Punch, punch, and a final punch to the jaw. The final punch to be seen by the dean. BUSTED. As my son was led away by the authorities, he heard comforting responses from the crowd. Yeah, puffer (another story),about time. And my personal favorite response by the "black" kids. Boy! You popped that cracker good!

It's Christmas Letter Time!!!!

Mr. Turkey

I met a Turkey Gobbler, when I went out to play
Oh, Mr. Turkey Gobbler, how are you today?

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, that I can not say
Don't ask me such a question........

Do do do do.

The other day someone, learning I would have some more free time on my hands, asked me what I am going to do? The other day I commented on how it must be hard on my 70ish in-laws to do all the redecorating and painting on their house. My sister-in-law said "well, they need something to keep them busy!". Do we always HAVE to be doing SOMETHING? And, how exciting must it be? What is deemed "worthwhile"? Can I sit on my deck in the sun and appreciate the colors of fall, with a cup of tea? Is that doing something? Hmmmmm.

What to do, What to do.

Eu Are What Eu Eat

I'm glad that despite the horrible grade my son is getting in his science class, he is learning something. "You might not want to continue to eat that shrimp if you knew....never mind I'll tell you after dinner", exclaimed junior. Now, I knew he was studying all about bacteria and viruses. Eubacteria, Archaebacteria. I was helping him study for his quiz. My head was swimming with bacilli, cocci, sprilla images. Was some sort of cyanobacteria still stuck on my shrimp? " What? What? Just tell me." I said. He then told me that the brain of a shrimp is located in the tail. He then started to tell me about the live bacteria in my yogurt, and how he looked at it squiggling around under the microscope at school. Good thing I can afford to lose a few pounds.
